If you just need enough money to travel as a New Nomad or if you want to try out the Four Hour Work Week lifestyle for a few months (or even forever) then you have way more options open to you than the average Internet Marketer. Because of the relativity cheap cost of living overseas especially in places like South America and Southeast Asia, you don’t necessarily need to make 10K a month.

Things like Adsence, a single ebook, blogging and low volume affiliate programs that usually only make 50 or 70 bucks a day are actually viable Internet Marketing options again. Before if you wanted to live off of your online earnings you had to make enough money to pay for rent, car insurance, utilities and a dozen other bills every month back in your home country.

This article is supposed to be a “Tongue in Cheek” poke at buying gems in Asia and selling them back home for quick cash – don’t take the tone too seriously. But – the advice is still solid, you won’t make money doing this and there is a 99.999% chance that you will get ripped off

I have heard this “buy gems overseas cheap and sell them for a profit back home” Expat/ New Rich/ Nomad Lifestyle idea a hundred times from a dozen different types of Expats – and no matter their education, job or nationality they all have one thing in common… Not a single one knows even a tiny thing about gems or the international gem industry.

These are some pictures from when I went to Subang Ciater, West Java last year with a buddy of mine to see Tangkuban Perahu – a semi-active Volcano here in Indonesia.

It’s about a 3 1/2 hour drive from Jakarta so we set off around 6am (the earliest I have been awake in 7 months) and fought traffic for 1 hour before we were even out of Jakarta - but at least he drove the TPA Urban Assault Vehicle (hehehe just a CRV) so I could sleep.

Also… Plan out your entire website (including having all your content written out already) before you start pumping money out on building a site – I can’t tell you how much money I wasted “jumping the gun” when I first started out with IM

I know tons of people and expats that think that they can suddenly start making tons of money online without any knowledge of Internet Marketing just because they read an article about some guy that makes 100K a week with a blog.
